Oasis Stores Blogger Event

I was invited along to Oasis HQ last week to celebrate the launch of their shiny new Argyll Street store and preview the fantastic Christmas collection.

After the obligatory bubbly and cupcakes, the inevitable 'trying-on' happened - and Grazia's Style Hunter was on hand to snap our combinations. I went for a sequinned gold mini (definitely got my eye on that one for party season!) and a gorgeous coral maxi-mini hybrid. Other key pieces included a leather blazer and Chanel-esque tweed short-suit among other great dresses, coats and separates.

A new Oasis fan here!

Fashion Week SS12 - Beyoncé & Tina Knowles' House of Deréon

One of my favourite jobs to date.

Not only did I get to strut my stuff to 'Run the World' (SO MAJOR) , but I got to meet the woman herself, and her mum, Tina. They are both incredibly inspiring, powerful women and I've fallen even more in love with them because of how genuinely down-to-earth they both are.

Got love for team Deréon.

New work of the written kind...

My luck's been up recently, I've written for The Telegraph and I-D magazine in the space of just a few weeks- they're only short online articles but it's all a bit overwhelming...
A couple of years ago I was saying that I'd love to write for I-D magazine "when I was older", and I've done it (BOOM!)

In other news I've also shot with Rankin recently, (yes, THE Rankin) and will be featured in his new book which everyone is *hoping* will be out in October. I've seen the chosen shot and I absolutely love it, so look out for me!

New Work

I've been super busy, and had very little time to blog in the way I usually would (or at least would like to). I have to say thanks to everyone for not unfollowing me, in four weeks I'm done with college and have all the time in the world to blog properly... but until then what I *can* do is share an editorial I did a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy

is daniel browne agency a scam? they asked me to pay 500 pounds for a portfolio? do you know anything/or have heard about this agency?

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY! THIS IS A SCAM. NO LEGIT AGENCY WILL EVER ASK YOU FOR MONEY UPFRONT, EVER, PERIOD, FULL STOP. I cannot stress this enough, no matter how bad you want to model or how good the deal seems, run a mile .

Ask away.

I'm looking for a fashion based work experience, preferably at a modelling agency, do you have any advice about how I could begin my search or just general advice on a fashion based work experience? Thanks so much :)

email email email! Write yourself a good cover letter, and do a CV tailored to the kind of work you're applying for, and send them to all the agencies you can. Also twitter is becoming increasingly used for business, put out a few tweets send them to a few good contacts and you might be surprised. They don't usually list things at modelling agencies on here, but LCF creative careers is an amazing website with listings of internships/jobs in the fashion world http://www.arts.ac.uk/student/careers/creative-opportunities.htm As for advice I'd say be prepared to start at the bottom and no matter how shit the job seems at first, putting the effort in will pay off eventually xx

I love your blog, but can't help thinking surely the bad outweighs the good of the fashion industry? The mass pressure it exerts on woman to look 'perfect' and be 'thin' is without a doubt the main reason why anorexia and bulimia are so common.

Firstly, thank you (: But I disagree. I find it hard to get my opinions on this across but I'll word this as best I can... Of course there are negatives, and we all know that 'thin' is portrayed as being beautiful in high fashion but I think the problem(s) don't initially stem from the fashion industry at all. Most eating disorders aren't about wanting to be thin at all, the weight loss is more of a by-product of wanting to control something in their lives and what you eat is one of the few things you can have full control over. Yes, the industry might act as a trigger but we need to STOP BLAMING IT OUTRIGHT. Think about it, if someone's willing to let a photograph, (a photograph which has probably used the most flattering camera angles possible and been edited heavily in post-production) 'get' to them or dictate how they should look then is the *real* issue what's in the photograph or people's own attitudes?

Rule Britannia

So I started off hating the hype surrounding the royal wedding, and there is so much to do with the Monarchy that I disagree with, but I must say Kate Middleton looked amazing in Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, as did her sister, Pippa. So here's a patriotic look which I didn't actually sport for today's occasion but for a casting on Tuesday.

Fashion Week AW11: The Double Life

Me on the runway!

Anyone's who's been reading this blog for a while will know that last season I attended London Fashion Week for the first time, to cover shows for LDNfashion, the website I write for. I'd become so used to watching the shows, trying to observe as many details as I could whilst trying to get a snap of every look for future reference that when I started working towards being on the catwalk, it was...well a little odd.

The funny thing is, at show castings I was less interested in staring down the other models -my competition effectively - but more interested in trying to get a sneaky glimpse at the almost finished collections at the designers' studios. (Sass + Bide was old news by the time they showed)

Anyway, over the past week I've had this really odd feeling, I've kind of been overwhelmed by how well modelling has gone so far, especially how quickly it's happened. When I was taken on by Select I said that there were three things I wanted to achieve - to walk one show, do an editorial and book a campaign/money job before I turned 18. I've done that in four weeks so I'm kind of like...now what? Which is the fun thing, I don't know where this will take me, but I'm loving it (: Big thanks to my bookers, and everyone at Select who have been amazing.

This is starting to sound like a bloody Oscar speech or something.

Right, the shot is from the Lako Bukia show @ Vauxhall Fashion Scout which was my first ever runway walk, and nicked from Vogue.com

My editorial for the Sunday Times Style is out on Sunday (that's what I've been told, anyway) so go buy it ok?

More updates soon, I promise. A video blog may even be needed.

On Sunday night I was lucky enough to attend the official BAFTAs after party, sponsored by Grey Goose. Had an amazing night! I wore this 1930s sheer gown, courtesy of Mishka Vintage in Crouch End. (Which is legitimately THE best vintage store for eveningwear I have visited in a very long time!)
